Rebranding website for existing client

Ampelec Case Study: How We Executed a Same-Day Website Rebrand (Without the “Agency Tax”)

For a trades business, visual identity is crucial. It’s what makes your van recognisable in traffic and your quote stand out in a crowded inbox.

But for many business owners, the excitement of a new logo or color scheme is quickly killed by the logistical nightmare of updating their website. The fear of digital downtime, broken pages, and a massive invoice for out of scope web development is enough to make most tradies put off a rebrand for years.

At Cyberspark Digital, we engineer websites to be agile assets, not rigid anchors. We recently proved this with one of our long-term clients, Ampelec. Here is how we executed a complete sitewide rebrand in a single day, with zero downtime and absolutely zero extra cost to the client.

The “Panic Call” (And the Hidden Anxiety)

I recently received a call from the founder of Ampelec, a talented local electrician we originally partnered with to build their lead-generating website.

He called with great news: the business was growing, and they had just finalised a brand new logo and color scheme for their vans and uniforms.

But there was a catch. In digital marketing, inconsistency kills trust. If a homeowner clicks a Facebook ad featuring a sleek new brand, but lands on a website sporting the old, dated colors, they immediately wonder: Is this the same company? Did they go out of business?

The client knew the website needed to match the new vans immediately. When he called me, he was bracing for the standard industry response: a formal quote for hundreds of dollars and a two-week “Under Construction” lead time.

The “Spaghetti Wiring” Problem

To understand Ampelec’s anxiety, you have to look at how most cheap websites are built.

Most budget web designers hard-code colors and fonts onto every single page. In electrical terms, this is the equivalent of running a dedicated wire from the street pole to every single light switch in a house, rather than using a central switchboard.

If you decide to change your brand from blue to red, the developer has to manually open every single page, find every button, and manually repaint the code.

  • It is slow: It takes hours of tedious manual labor.
  • It is expensive: You are paying their $150/hr hourly rate for that labor.
  • It is risky: They will inevitably miss a sub-page, leaving your site looking broken and unprofessional.

The Engineered Solution: The Global Design System

Luckily for Ampelec, I don’t build cheap and nasty websites. I engineer them to work for each individual client.

From day one, Ampelec’s site was built using a Global Design System. Instead of defining colors on each individual page, we built a central switchboard for the website’s style, this is a standard part of our Web Design & Development process.

When Ampelec sent over their new logo and colour codes, I didn’t open a single web page. I went straight to the central switchboard, updated the primary brand colors once, and hit save.

Instantly, every button, header, footer, and mobile menu across the entire website snapped into the new brand identity perfectly.

The Results: Zero Downtime, Zero Agency Tax

In the highly competitive electrical services market, downtime is a revenue killer. If a customer has an emergency fault, they aren’t going to wait for your site to exit Maintenance Mode, they are going to call your competitor.

Because of our structural engineering, we pushed the Ampelec rebrand live on the same day.

  • No Maintenance Mode screen
  • No broken links.
  • Zero lost leads.

But the metric that mattered most to Ampelec wasn’t the speed, it was the invoice.

Normally, an agency would charge a minimum of 3 hours at $150/hr ($450 total) for a sitewide update like this. Because Ampelec is protected by our proactive Website Security and Maintenance Plan, this major update was already covered.

When I told the client, “It’s already done, and it costs you nothing extra,” the relief was palpable.

Is Your Website an Asset or a Liability?

The Ampelec story proves that the cheapest website build is almost always the most expensive one in the long run. If your site is held together by digital duct tape, a simple logo change can turn into a multi-day, $500 ordeal.

By investing in a properly engineered site and a proactive maintenance partner, Ampelec modernised their business without pausing their cash flow.
